Selling Your Case for Change centres on Accelerators 3 and 4 of Kotter’s change framework—forming a strategic vision and communicating for buy-in—while incorporating elements from the Science of Change, including the neuroscience behind our responses to change and the Head + Heart principle. This course emphasises the importance of crafting a compelling vision that not only inspires but also provides a concrete, actionable roadmap for the future. You’ll learn to create clarity, calm natural Survive instincts, and activate Thrive responses while preparing for objections. Through interactive simulations and practical activities, you’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to effectively build support for your change initiative, leaving with an actionable plan and tools for immediate application.

Course Agenda
The agenda on Selling Your Case for Change includes two modules designed to better prepare participants to lead change.

Module 1: Forming a Strategic Change Vision
Although genuine urgency can be created around a Big Opportunity, people need a clear picture of what the future should (or could) look like—described in rational, practical, and actionable terms—to direct their contributions and efforts. In this module, you’ll explore the components of an inspiring Change Vision and practice developing and implementing a powerful vision.

Module 2: Enlisting a Volunteer Army to Gain Buy-In
Every change effort encounters obstacles, and often, these challenges come from individuals who aren’t fully convinced of the case for change. In this module, you’ll learn strategies for addressing objections and overcoming resistance to your change initiatives. A fictional scenario, inspired by real-world cases, will guide your practice, offering a fun, interactive way to test and refine your skills.

Important to Know
This program is delivered in-person or as a virtual instructor-led course. It forms one of the six courses which can be taken individually or in blocks to become Kotter Change Certified. Completing Foundations of Change before enrolling in this course is recommended but not required.

Angelo is a business psychologist, advisor and facilitator with experience supporting clients across public sector to develop and execute strategy including the National Digital Strategy, Public Service Reform. With over 25 years global experience in L&D, his human capital development work focuses on building critical human and organisational capabilities in change, innovation and sustainability leadership. He works with executive and senior leadership teams across a range of sectors. Angelo holds an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Masters Degree in Business Administration and an MSc in Occupational Psychology. He is a Chartered Psychologist in Ireland and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in the UK.
